Dear Sir, Madam,
I am a third year student at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (in Helsinki,
Finland), studying Environmental Engineering. My studies and little professional
experience have lead to my great attraction and attention towards the environmental
problems of our society.
My degree program is mainly focused on water management and also includes
renewable energy. I am particularly interested in laboratory experiments and water
related issues and I am looking forward to the internship where I could implement my
knowledge on that topic and gain more skills.
My professional experience includes a work placement at the Health Care Department
in my hometown, Tallinn (Estonia), where I was assisting the Chemical and
Environmental Engineers. I was performing various tasks, such as taking samples of
drinking and bathing water, participating in the laboratory analysis of water and food
and manipulating the data. I have gained important skills in communicating with
customers, performing tasks in group and improved dramatically my knowledge about
working in laboratory.
My wide specialization covers many branches of Engineering Programmes, such as
Automation, Biochemistry, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering. The knowledge from
different fields can be found extremely useful.
From the courses I have done in my university, the most exciting for me were
thermodynamics, statistical mathematics, environmental chemistry, water related
courses (for instance water treatment) and laboratory works in analytical chemistry and
microbiology, in which I also showed good scores. All of my professional studies have
been conducted in English; therefore I have good level of technical English.
I find France an extremely important and highly developed country in my field of
studies. I believe in France I can gain tremendous experience in working as an
Engineer, as well as I consider the possibility of internship a unique chance to practice
French, which I am presently learning at the intensive courses. Moreover, after I met
very good French friends, I became especially curious and interested in French history
and culture.
As my strong sides I consider responsibility and ability to work hard. These personal
characteristics have been helping me to achieve many goals, both in studies and sport.
Moreover, it was mentioned by my colleagues that my positive attitude in group works
has often influenced on the team mood and motivation. I strongly believe that every
problem has a solution.
